Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) today announced a total of $457,430 in homeless assistance funds for programs across Iowa. The Continuum of Care Program is designed to promote communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; providing funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, and state and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused to homeless individuals, families, and communities by homelessness.

Details of the funding are as follows:

City of Des Moines-- $218,598

City of Sioux City -- $13,594

Family Alliance for Veterans of America, Inc. -- $225,238
